‘Song One’ Features Original Music by Lewis & Rice, Opens January 23
Dec 23, 2014 Jenny Lewis
Anne Hathaway, Johnny Flynn, and Mary Steenburgen star in writer/director Kate Barker-Froyland’s Song One, which opens on January 23rd. The film features songs written by Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice, as well as on-screen performances by Dan Deacon, Sharon Van Etten, and the Felice Brothers.
A young, aspiring songwriter (Ben Rosenfield) is struck by a taxi and falls into a coma. His estranged sister Franny (Hathaway) returns home to spend time with their grief-stricken mother (Steenburgen); while there, she discovers a demo intended for his favorite singer. Franny tracks down the musician (Flynn) to give him her brother’s music, and the two spark an immediate, romantic connection.
Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice (a.k.a. Jenny & Johnny) composed original songs for the film, most of which are performed by star Johnny Flynn in the movie. In the exclusive clip below, Lewis and Rice work in the recording studio with actor Ben Rosenfield to capture the perfect take on their track, “Marble Song.”
