As Rolling Stone reports, famed rock photographer Jim Marshall passed in his sleep this past Tuesday at the age of 74. Marshall spent his heyday working with some of the most influential artists of his day, artists that remain indescribably influential to modern rock. From the iconic shot of Johnny Cash with his middle finger to the world, to candid backstage shots of The Beatles, Marshall developed trusting relationships with many of the artists he worked with all the way up to recent days. In his life, he published five books of work and produced countless memorable images. You can check out some of his work from his recent book Trust on Rolling Stone’s site. (via Pitchfork)

I cannot even imagine some of the things Jim experienced in his life. Some people never get the chance to attend a concert, but for Jim that was something small with his line of work. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends.
