Follow an amusing teaser trailer released for it on Wednesday, Father John Misty (real name Josh Tillman) has shared a video for “The Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apartment,” one of the standouts from this year’s I Love You, Honeybear album. In it Tillman meets Tillman in a bar and brings him home with him. The two Tillman’s do coke, swim in his pool, make-out, and seemingly sleep together.
Drew Pearce directed the clip. He co-wrote Iron Man 3 and Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation. Tillman had this to say about it in a press release: “This video is partially inspired by the LeBron James quote, ‘It is precisely the superficial differences between people who are otherwise alike that inform the hostilities between them.’ Special thanks to my body double Tyler who I had to kiss no fewer than two dozen times and whose breath I can still smell in my mind’s eye.” Pearce also commented on the video in the press release: “It has been an honor to explore the palpable sexual chemistry that exists between Josh Tillman and himself. I hope this video does their enduring love affair justice.”
Below is the video, followed by Father John Misty’s upcoming tour dates. And on October 14 he’ll be performing on the outdoor stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live.
I Love You, Honeybear is out now via Sub Pop. Also read our recent print article on Father John Misty and our recent bonus Q&A with Tillman (also read our 2012 interview with him).
