Father John Misty
The ever prolific Father John Misty (aka Josh Tillman) performed solo at the annual Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital benefit (aka SMooCH) on Saturday night, joining The New Pornographers, Naked Giants, and J Mascis. During his set he performed four new songs, three of which he was playing for the first time ever. He also performed the recently shared new song “Holy Hell.” According to a Reddit post he also told fans that his new album, the follow-up to his excellent 2015-released sophomore album, I Love You, Honeybear, was done. Watch a fan-shot video of him performing a new song below, via Stereogum.
I Love You, Honeybear, was Under the Radar’s #1 album of 2015. Consequently, Father John Misty was on the cover of our Best of 2015 print issue and you can read that cover story article here. For some reasons, the songs didn’t appeal me that much as his old songs used to. Maybe I will have to re-listen to the songs again to get to the tune of these songs. Maybe after listening to them a couple of time, I may start liking them.
