In June, the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Center was flooded and its residents forced to evacuate. Now, Calgary native musician Feist will raise money to repair damage to the shelter. On August 7th, Feist will perform a benefit concert, and proceeds will go to the shelter. She is also holding an online auction over at eBay on accommodations for a meet and greet for the upcoming benefit concert.
“My family were lucky enough to avoid serious effects of the floods, but I can only imagine what others’ went through,” Feist said. “With the advice of my mom, my eyes on the ground, I chose the DI to support through this concert. This type of catastrophe has certainly shown the many faces of disaster but, rain or shine, the DI help the homeless and less fortunate every day. What they do is noble, special, and life-changing, and it deserves not just my support, but yours as well. I’m happy to have a summer’s night under the stars in Banff translate into some tangible support of this incredible organization.”
