First Look: Zack Snyder Reveals First Image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman
Sneak Peek of A Grittier Incarnation of Aquaman From Next Year's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
Feb 20, 2015 DC Comics
Last night, director Zack Snyder treated fans to a much-anticipated first look of actor Jason Momoa in character as Aquaman. Snyder revealed this photo via his Twitter account with the caption, “There is only one true King.” The picture itself is accompanied with the text, “Unite the Seven,” an undeniably clever play on words referring to the seven seas and the seven core members of the Justice League to be featured in the upcoming movies.
Starring previously as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones and as Conan in the reboot of Conan the Barbarian, Momoa will surely bring a new intimidating presence to the superhero. Forgoing the traditionally campy green and orange jumpsuit and blonde hair, Snyder’s Aquaman features minimal armor, warrior’s body tattoos, a regal beard, and a wild mane of dark hair.
Momoa will bring Aquaman to life in Snyder’s upcoming film, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, coming out in theaters on March 25, 2016.
