First “Suicide Squad” Trailer Officially Released, Features Jared Leto as The Joker and More
Trailer Originally Leaked From Comic-Con and Now Officially Online

At Warner Bros.’ Comic-Con panel on Saturday the first trailer for the DC Comics adaptation Suicide Squad was shown. As the film is still in production and not due out until August 2016, it was meant to be a Comic-Con exclusive. But someone broke the Comic-Con etiquette and the clearly expressed rules and filmed the thing on their phone and uploaded it to the Internet where it went viral. Warner Bros. not being happy with poorly filmed pirated footage representing their film has now decided to officially release the trailer, after trying for the last two days to contain the leaked footage and being unable to. Whether or not this was all part of the marketing plan to drum up extra publicity is already being debated on the Internet, although it does seem quite premature to be releasing a trailer for a movie more than a year before its premiere. Regardless, we now all get to feast our eyes on Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Will Smith as Deadshot in the trailer below. And it seems as though Ben Affleck’s Batman has a cameo as well.
For the uninitiated, the premise behind Suicide Squad is that captured villains are forced to work for the government as a team to help combat greater evils. David Ayer, whose last film was the Brad Pitt WWII tank drama Fury, is the director. Suicide Squad also stars Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz, Jim Parrack, and Common are also featured in mystery roles. It is due out August 5, 2016. Watch the trailer below.
