Supporting Newsom's West Coast and European Dates

A couple of weeks ago Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold posted a cover of The Five Keys’ “Out of Sight, Out of Mind.” Now he has announced that he’s joining Joanna Newsom on some of her tour dates early next year and will be playing some new solo material. Pecknold and Newsom are friends, have toured together before, and appeared on the cover together of Under the Radar’s 10th Anniversary Issue back in 2011.

Pecknold posted the news to Fleet Foxes’ Facebook page. Here’s his full statement:

“Very excited / honored to say that I’ll be opening some dates for Joanna Newsom early next year, playing an all-new solo set. I’ll be on both the European and the West Coast legs of her tour, in late winter / early spring. Hope to see some of you guys out there! asdkljaslkfjalw;ekjwal;erjwerpiwuerpoiwueropialkj;kJ;lkwj;lkejrew

-Robin”

It’s been a long four-and-a-half years since Fleet Foxes’ last album, 2011’s sophomore effort Helplessness Blues. Pecknold has since been busy getting his undergraduate degree at Columbia University, but it would be nice if this meant that either new Fleet Foxes music or a solo album from Pecknold was on the way soon. Newsom’s full list of tour dates can be found here, although it’s unclear exactly which ones will feature Pecknold. Below is a behind-the-scenes video of Pecknold and Newsom arm wrestling, captured at the photo shoot for our 10th Anniversary cover.
