Flight of the Conchords Announce “Flight of the Conchords sing Flight of the Conchords Tour”
Musical Comedy Duo to Try Out New Material on U.S. Tour
Feb 29, 2016
Flight of the Conchords
Beloved New Zealand musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords (Bret McKenzie + Jemaine Clement) recently announced their first U.S. show in three years: they will be headlining the Newport Folk Festival. Now our favorite Kiwis have announced a full on U.S. tour, amusingly dubbed as the “Flight of the Conchords sing Flight of the Conchords Tour.” What’s more, a press release promises that, “Jemaine and Bret have new material in the works, which they’ll showcase exclusively at these shows.” The band has also teamed up with the charity Global Citizen for the tour. The dates are below.
Last year Clement revealed he and McKenzie had been brainstorming ideas for a Flight of the Conchords movie. The New Zealand comedy duo had a beloved TV show (also titled Flight of the Conchords) that ran for two seasons on HBO, in which they starred as two hapless New Zealand folk singers also named Bret and Jemaine who were trying to make it in New York City. They also released two comedy albums and an EP on Sub Pop, the last one being 2009’s I Told You I Was Freaky.
