Flight of Conchords, everyone’s favorite kiwi folk comedy duo Jemaine Clement and partner Bret McKenzie, have revealed plans to tour the U.S. later this year. What will be the pair’s first legitimate stretch of shows for some time, Billboard reports that the band will be debuting brand new material. “I really don’t like the studio part of music,” says Clement while promoting his upcoming film People, Places, Things, at Sundance. “I more enjoy playing live and letting others take care of the recording.”
With the exception of brief a 2013 tour, Flight of the Conchords have been a background activity for Clement and McKenzie since their hit HBO show came to an end in 2009. Since that time Clement has been spending time with his family and working on films—making his co-directing/film-writing debut with last year’s What We Do in the Shadows—while McKenzie wound winning an Oscar for his musical work in the 2011 film revival of The Muppets and has been developing his own felt-center musical project.
