Former R.E.M. Guitarist Peter Buck Working on Solo Album
Ex-R.E.M Sideman Scott McCaughey Confirms Possible Vinyl Only Release

Peter Buck
True to his reputation with R.E.M. as being an intuitive, fast-working musician, guitarist Peter Buck is said to be readying his first solo album. The news was dropped by ex-R.E.M. sideman and mainstay of Young Fresh Fellows, The Baseball Project, and the Minus Five Scott McCaughey. In an interview with the Seattle Weekly, McCaughey revealed that the record will possibly be released only on vinyl, without accompanying MP3s, and describes the sound as being “pretty out.” He also hinted that the notoriously vocal-shy guitarist may actually sing on a track or two. Buck is the first R.E.M. member to have been confirmed as working on a solo album. Bassist Mike Mills has stated that he may begin work on one eventually, while singer Michael Stipe has expressed no interest in a solo musical endeavor.
