Foxygen released a new album, Hang, back in January via Jagjaguwar. Now they have covered Jessica Pratt’s “On Your Own Love Again.” Listen to it below. The song is part of Amazon’s Songs of Summer original playlist. Earlier in the week we shared a new song from Twin Peaks, “Who It’s Gonna Be,” also from the playlist. Also, EMA has covered “The Crying Game,” originally recorded by Dave Berry in 1964, but also well known because of the Boy George version, recorded for the 1992 movie of the same name, for the playlist. You can hear a snippet of EMA’s version below. Also below is Temples’ contribution to the Amazon playlist, “Henry’s Cake.”
Foxygen had this to say about their Jessica Pratt cover in a press release: “While her version is acoustic, we decided to employ Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound technique to make the song sound great coming out of the speakers at your next summer barbeque.”

This is great. Anyone who has listened to their previous covers will surely be waiting to hear this one too. They do cover the songs with great enthusiasm and they never kill the soul of the original song. This makes their cover versions so good to hear.
