Friendly Fires to Tour the U.S., including SXSW

British electro-rock trio Friendly Fires (or “dance punk” as Wikipedia describes them) have announced a full U.S. tour to go down in May and June. They will also be playing previously announced dates in NYC and LA in February and will be hitting SXSW in March. Based on previous shows, expect plenty of dance moves from frontman Ed Macfarlane and lots of cowbell.
All of this is in honor of their upcoming sophomore album, which has a working title of Pala and is due out this spring. Pala is the follow-up to the band’s Mercury Prize nominated self-titled debut from 2008 (which landed at #131 on Under the Radar‘s Top 200 albums of the decade list). The new album was self-produced by the band, with a little help from Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Florence and the Machine). Here are the dates:
