Future Islands Announce New Album and Tour Dates, Share “Ran”

Future Islands have announced a new album, The Far Field, and shared its first single “Ran.” The Far Field is due out April 7 via 4AD. The band has also announced some tour dates. Check out “Ran” below, followed by the album’s tracklist and cover art, as well as the band’s tour dates.

The Far Field is the follow-up to the Baltimore-based trio’s acclaimed 2014-released breakthrough album Singles. Samuel T. Herring (vocals, lyrics), William Cashion (bass, guitars), and Gerrit Welmers (keyboards, programming) wrote the album in North Carolina and Baltimore. John Congleton produced the album at the Sunset Sound studios in Los Angeles. Blondie’s Debbie Harry guests on the album, singing a duet with Herring, “Shadows.” Patrick McMinn contributed string arrangements and this is the first Future Islands record to feature live drums by Micahel Lowry. The album will be released “digitally, on 180gm white and standard black LP, CD, cassette formats, and as a unique, first-of-its-kind miniature LP.” Future Islands will perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on February 9.
