Gil Scott-Heron Teams Up with Jamie xx on ‘We’re New Here’ LP
First Single, Video Unleashed Today.
Nov 30, 2010
The xx
It’s an unlikely pairing-one’s a revered spoken word performer known for his fusion of soul and blues, while the other’s a young producer/musician who’s a member of 2009’s biggest buzz band (The xx) and remixes 2009’s biggest buzz solo act (Florence + the Machine). But when Gil Scott-Heron‘s raw vocals are paired with Jamie xx’s sharply minimalist beats, the result is an enigmatic dance track fit for only the darkest underground clubs.
On February 22nd, Scott-Heron and Jamie xx will release We’re New Here, which sees Jamie xx remixing 13 tracks off I’m New Here, Scott-Heron’s most recent record. The hard-hitting, darkly-tinged first single, “NY Is Killing Me,” is available for download today at boomkat or you can stream the track below.

what an brilliant site. Your information helps me personally with my studies. I’m going to school and I have a term paper to make. I was intending to get custom essays through the web, however right now your web page has helped me handle writers block and i also feel like I’m able to progress on my own. Many thanks all for this good material.
