Grandaddy Working on New Album
Frontman Jason Lytle Tweeted About it Last Night

Grandaddy
Grandaddy have a special place with Under the Radar, as they were on the cover of our very first print magazine, way back in 2001. The article was in honor of their 2000-released masterpiece The Sophtware Slump. And while they never quite matched the heights of that album, they still had a solid catalogue before and after that record. It’s been a long nine years since the band’s last album, 2006’s Just Like the Fambly Cat, but we happily greet the news that Grandaddy is finally working on a new album.
Frontman/main creative force Jason Lytle posted to Twitter last night that he was tracking a new Grandaddy album. The band reunited for a brief reunion tour in 2012, but this is the first we’ve heard of a new album. One question is whether this is a full band effort or mainly a Lytle project, as previous Grandaddy albums were recorded mainly by Lytle solo. Also, last year Grandaddy and Band of Horses released a collaborative Christmas song together, so it’s possible it could be a continuation of that project. Although it seems like this might be a full on new Granddady album.
Check out the tweet below, followed by a YouTube stream of The Sophtware Slump.
