Grimes Clarifies “Go” Did Not Cause Her To Scrap New Album
Also Finished New "Glam-Rock" Song

Grimes
Earlier this summer Grimes, a.k.a. Claire Boucher, released “Go,” her first piece of new music since her breakthrough album Visions. A divisive track, Boucher later revealed in an interview with New York Times Magazine that negative reactions towards the song inevitably caused her to scrap what was to be her intended follow-up LP. Turns out that is not the case, as Boucher took to Twitter last night to clarify her statements. According to Boucher “Go” was always intended to be a stand-alone track, and was released simply because she enjoyed playing the song live. She also revealed that she’s completed a possible single for her upcoming record, “my first attempt at a glam rock style song.” Scroll down below to view the full sequence of tweets.
woo hoo just finished what could def b a third single for this album, my first attempt at a glam rock style song, feeling queen and bowie

guitar is just a whole new sonic world, melodically, rhythmically etc,. playing ‘irl’ music is my biggest inspiration lately

that probably seems ridiculous but ive only ever tried to make music with computers before, obvs more possibilities, but much less visceral

oi, to clarify - go wasn’t the first single - it was a one off w mike like phone sex, we mostly put it out cuz its insanely fun to play live

none of my album tracks have been released yet-go was never intended for album & i didn’t delay album cuz of go, its like a separate entity

& thats NOT to say that go isn’t on the album cuz of scandal etc - its only not on the album cuz i didnt produce it and i produce my albums
