Yesterday afternoon Grizzly Bear frontman Ed Droste took to his Twitter account and wrote “yup! :) new music soon. Excited!” Turns out “soon” is Nov. 12, as the Brooklyn band plans to release two deluxe editions of their acclaimed 2012 LP Shields. The first is Shields Expanded, a two-disc CD-set and 18-track digital album featuring the original album along with eight additional b-sides, remixes (including the Nicolas Jaar remix of “Sleeping Ute” released as a limited edition 12” for Record Store Day earlier this year), and demos (including early recordings from Marfa, TX, before official tracking for the album commenced in Cape Cod and New York). The second is Shields B-Sides, which will be released as a 12’’ 180gm vinyl record and digital download featuring only the eight additional tracks.
