Earlier today the new album by Grizzly Bear, Painted Ruins, was announced, as were some tour dates. Now a new song, “Mourning Sound,” has been shared, and additional details (including the tracklist and label) have been announced. Painted Ruins is due out August 18 via RCA. Listen to “Mourning Sound” below, followed by the album’s tracklist and cover art, as well as their upcoming tour dates.
Grizzly Bear were formerly a New York band, but three members (Chris Bear, Ed Droste, and Chris Taylor) now live in Los Angeles, with Daniel Rossen living in Santa Fe, NM. The band spent two years writing and recording Painted Ruins. Taylor produced the album, which was recorded at Allaire Studios in upstate New York, and at several locations around Los Angeles, including Taylor’s own Terrible Studios. Painted Ruins is the follow-up to 2012’s Shields, and they have long been hinting at a new album, releasing various abstract teaser trailers for it. The album includes the previously shared single, “Three Rings,” which is also below again.

I wish they wouldn’t announce records that are coming out in August. This wait is going to kill me. I want this record now.
