Update: Hear Transference‘s first single, “Written In Reverse,” over at NPR Music now.
Spoon‘s seventh studio LP, Transference, arrives January 19th in North America (via Merge) and the day before in Europe (via Anti-). We already showed you the tracklist and now you can oggle the album’s plush sleeve art. (via Stereogum) Sort of reminds you of a Wes Anderson movie doesn’t it?
After using a shot by Italian artist Ugo Mulas for the Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga cover, the Austin, Texas band chose the mysteriously cropped shot by the American photographer William Eggleston above. The original photograph, dubbed “Sumner, Mississippi, c. 1970”, sold for $86,500 at an auction last year, according to Christie’s.
The new single from Transference, “Written in Reverse”, is out in digital format tomorrow, with a 7” release slated for January 5th. Peep the sleeve for that below.
