HotWax, the young electrifying grunge trio from Hastings via Brighton UK, have released their latest single, “ One More Reason” from their debut album, Hot Shock, which is due for release on March 7 via Marathon Artists.

The band, comprising Tallulah Sim-Savage (vocals/guitar), Lola Sam (bass), and Alfie Sayers (drums), have built a name for themselves with a relentless touring schedule, sharing stages with Royal Blood and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, as well as delivering standout performances at festivals like Reading & Leeds and All Points East.

Described by Sam as “an explosion of color,” Hot Shock is packed with tracks that combine lyrical intensity and groove-driven arrangements. Drawing inspiration from artists like Sonic Youth, Autolux, and Fontaines D.C., the album was partly recorded live at London’s RAK Studios to capture the band’s dynamic live energy.

Producer Catherine Marks, who has worked with Boygenius and Wolf Alice, joined forces with HotWax after seeing their July 2023 gig at Third Man Records Blue Basement. Sim-Savage recalls. “Afterwards, Catherine came up to us and said, “I need to record your album with you. I want it to sound like the energy in this room. It needs to feel like a party.’”

The record also features contributions from an all-female production team, including Steph Marziano and Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint, with some sessions held in the atmospheric surroundings of Joshua Tree, California. “Collaborating with HotWax and Catherine was an absolute joy,” says Marziano. “With Lola’s punchy bass lines, Tallulah’s captivating melodies, and Alfie’s precise drumming, they truly form a one-of-a-kind band.”

Hot Shock promises to balance moments of chaos with vulnerability. “. Tracks like “Pharmacy” and “Dress Our Love” tackle complex emotions, while “One More Reason” serves as the album’s emotional core. “The song is about really intense feelings, where you love something so much that it almost makes you feel sick,” Sim-Savage explains.
