Jamie Lidell Announces First Album in Nine Years, Shares New Song “The Center” (Plus Live Video)

Places of Unknowing Due Out This Summer

May 14, 2025

British musician Jamie Lidell has been busy in recent years being a husband and father, but he’s also recorded a new album, Places of Unknowing, his first in nine years. Today he has released its first single, “The Center,” as well as a video of him performing the song live in his adopted hometown of Nashville. Places of Unknowing doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but it is due out this summer. Below, check out the single, live video, and other album details.

Lidell’s last album was 2016’s Building a Beginning. Places of Unknowing began during the COVID lockdown, when Lidell taught himself piano and began writing songs using lyrics written by his wife Lindsey. A press release says the music of two Davids inspired the album: David Sylvian and David Bowie.

“If I’m gonna teach my son anything, it’s: follow that passion because especially as an autistic person, you need those special interests to guide you in life,” Lidell says in a press release. “That will be your saving grace when people are mocking you for being different. Having that and knowing the power of that is huge. And not to be all ‘life lesson’ about it, I know I should take a little bit of my own advice!”
