Japandroids recently announced a new album, Near to the Wild Heart of Life, via a short announcement video and then shared the album’s title track and confirmed more details about the album, including that it’s due out January 27, 2017 via ANTI-. Now the band have announced a whole lot of tour dates that takes them all the way to next May. Check out all the dates below, followed again by “Near to the Wild Heart of Life.” Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 11, at 10 AM local time.
The album was written throughout 2014 and 2015 in Vancouver, Toronto, New Orleans, and Mexico City and mainly recorded by Jesse Gander (who had previously recorded both Post-Nothing and Celebration Rock) at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, BC in 2015. If you preorder the album you get a limited edition 7-inch single with “Near to the Wild Heart of Life” on the A-side and a cover of Talking Heads’ “Love → Building on Fire” on the B-side. The album is the follow-up to 2012’s Celebration Rock and their first for ANTI- (previously they were on Polyvinyl).
