As previously reported, Death Cab for Cuite member Ben Gibbard and Son Volter Jay Farrar have collaborated on an album inspired by beat poet Jack Kerouac titled One Fast Move Or I’m Gone: Kerouac’s Big Sur—due out October 20th.

Now the pair—along with an all-star band that includes Death Cab for Cutie’s Nick Harmer, Son Volt’s Mark Spencer and Jon Wurster of The Mountain Goats, Superchunk and Bob Mould—are heading out On the Road (gee…that sounds familiar) for a series of dates in support of their collaboration. Our apologies to those outside of major metropolitan areas—this road trip only features four rest stops.

Tour dates:

10/23 - El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles, CA (on sale 9/16)
10/24 - Bimbo’s 365 Club - San Francisco, CA (on sale 9/16)
10/26 - Lincoln Hall - Chicago, IL (on sale 9/25)
10/28 - Webster Hall - New York, NY (on sale 9/18)

In other Gibbard news, as also reported by Pitchfork, MTV is now streaming the new Death Cab for Cutie single on their website. The song is entitled “Meet Me on the Equinox” and will be featured on the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which is rumoured to also include contributions from Bon Iver, Thom Yorke, and Muse.
