Iconic horror film director and composer John Carpenter has previously released two albums of original music inspired by his movie themes, 2015’s Lost Themes and 2016’s Lost Themes II. Now he has announced a new album, Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998, in which he has newly recorded his classic movie themes with the same familial collaborators that worked on both Lost Themes albums and tours, his son, Cody Carpenter, and godson, Daniel Davies. They also cover Ennio Morricone’s theme for The Thing. It’s due out October 20 via Sacred Bones. Carpenter has shared his reworked theme from 1994’s “In the Mouth of Madness.” Listen to it below, followed by the album’s tracklist and cover art. Carpenter has also announced some tour dates, which are below too.

Carpenter had this to say about the “In the Mouth of Madness” theme: “I worked on the soundtrack for In the Mouth of Madness with Jim Lang. We never came up with a great main title theme. In a rented house on Woodrow Wilson (my house was being remodeled), I came up with a heavy metal theme inspired by Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman.’ My friend Dave Davies played lead guitar, and now, over 20 years later, his son Daniel is playing the lead. One of my favorite themes.”

Carpenter has long composed music for his films (which include such classics as Halloween, The Thing, Escape From New York, and They Live). Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998 will be available as a CD, black LP, and digitally, as well as in the following limited edition color vinyl formats:

- Deluxe LP w/ 7” - “Christine Red” - 3000 units (exclusively available in stores outside of the U.S.)
