John Maus Shares New Song “Running Man”
Addendum Due Out May 18 via Ribbon Music, Career-Spanning Vinyl Box Set Out Now
May 14, 2018 John Maus
Last October John Maus released a new album, Screen Memories, via Ribbon Music. Last month Maus released a career-spanning 6-LP vinyl box set that contains all his albums, including Screen Memories and another new album, Addendum. Addendum is getting a standalone release on CD and digital this Friday May 18 via Ribbon Music (the vinyl version will remain exclusive to the box set). Previously Maus shared Addendum track “Episode.” Now he’s shared another song from the album, “Running Man.” Listen to it below, followed by Maus’ upcoming tour dates.
There was around a six-year gap between Screen Memories and its predecessor, 2011’s well-received third album, We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves. A previous press release explained what Maus had been up to in between the albums, since releasing We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves and 2012’s rarities album, A Collection of Rarities and Previously Unreleased Material: “After touring in support of the album, and releasing a collection of rarities and unreleased tracks, Maus receded from the public spotlight, returning to his academic pursuits. Years later, after completing his doctorate in Political Philosophy, he began building his own modular synthesizers, etching the printed circuit boards, soldering components, and assembling panels, until he had an instrument that matched his vision.”
