If you support Under the Radar‘s Patreon page at the minimum contribution of at least $1.00 a month you get access to our Patreon-only feed featuring exclusive content only available to Patreon supporters. UNKLE have also donated a vinyl copy of their new album, The Road: Part 1, to give away to one lucky Under the Radar Patreon supporter. One runner-up will get a CD copy. We’ll be picking one random Patreon supporter next Friday, August 25 to win the album. Read our brand new interview with UNKLE’s James Lavelle about the album.
James Lavelle’s UNKLE have returned with a new album, The Road: Part 1, which is out today. It’s UNKLE’s fifth album and the first to be solely led by Lavelle after previous UNKLE albums were a direct collaboration with another musician. Their auspicious debut album, 1998’s Psyence Fiction, for example, was a collaboration with DJ Shadow (it also featured Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft, and others). The Road: Part 1 is also still loaded with special guests, however, including Mark Lanegan and ESKA on the dramatic string-backed single “Looking For the Rain.” Members of Primal Scream, Queens of the Stone Age, The Duke Spirit, and others also show up on the album.
