Julia Jacklin Shares Self-Directed Video for “Don’t Know How to Keep Loving You”

Crushing Out Now via Polyvinyl

Oct 16, 2019 Julia Jacklin

Australian singer/songwriter Julia Jacklin released her sophomore album, Crushing, in February via Polyvinyl. Now she has shared a self-directed video for the album’s “Don’t Know How to Keep Loving You.” It was filmed in Melbourne at a Turkish restaurant called Alaska, in the upstairs function room. Watch it below, followed by her upcoming tour dates, including some U.S. ones next month.

In the video Jacklin is one of three backing singers in a band and you never actually see the lead singer of the band. In a press release she had this to say about the video and specifically why you never see the singer’s face: “I find it sad how much we can never really know how someone’s feeling no matter how much we think we know them. We’re all holding back in someway. Our inner lives can be so weird and loud that we all have to hold back a bit in order to exist and function in the world. He’s not really a part of what’s she’s processing in that costume shop red dress, he can’t really be let into those thoughts, she’s gotta figure it out herself.”

Previously Jacklin shared two songs from Crushing: “Body” (which was one of our Songs of the Week) and “Head Alone” (which was also one of our Songs of the Week), as well as a video for “Head Alone.” Then she shared a video for another new song, “Pressure to Party,” which was also one of our Songs of the Week. Then she shared a video for another new song, “Comfort,” and streamed the album a week early via NPR First Listen. Then she shared an acoustic video for “Comfort,” filmed backstage while on tour.

Jacklin released her debut album, Don’t Let the Kids Win, on Polyvinyl in 2016. Last year Jacklin released another album as part of the trio Phantastic Ferniture. Their self-titled album also came out via Polyvinyl.

Hi! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any problems with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several
weeks of hard work due to no back up. Do
you have any methods to prevent hackers?
