King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Prolific Melbourne psych-rock adventurers King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have already stated their intentions to release five albums this year and they already released three: Flying Microtonal Banana, back in February, Murder of the Universe, back in June, and in August Sketches of Brunswick East, which features Los Angeles’ Mild High Club, all via ATO. Now they have announced their fourth album of 2017, Polygondwanaland. It will be released as a free download this Thursday, but the band is encouraging fans to release it on vinyl, cassette, and CD themselves.
“Ever wanted to start your own record label? GO for it!” the band write in an Instagram post announcing the album. “Employ your mates, press wax, pack boxes. We do not own this record. You do.” There are various versions of the download, one for personal use, another if you want to press CDs, and a third one that works best for cutting vinyl records. Each include all the artwork specs and everything else you’d need. The album opens with the previously shared 10-minute long single “Crumbling Castle,” which is below. Also below are the album’s tracklist and the band’s Instagram post. Above is the album cover.
