Lana Del Rey Shares Cover of Sublime’s “Doin’ Time”
Recorded for a Documentary on the Band
May 17, 2019 Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey has long been teasing her new album, Norman Fucking Rockwell, which doesn’t have a release date yet, but now she has taken a detour and released a cover of “Doin’ Time,” a song released by Sublime in 1997 that was included on their third album, which was self-titled. Del Rey’s version was recorded for a documentary on the band, simply titled Sublime, that recently screened at the Tribeca Film Festival. Listen to the cover below, followed by the original.
Lana Del Rey released her last album, Lust for Life, in July 2017 via Interscope. Last September she returned with a new song “Mariners Apartment Complex,” shared via a black & white video. That was quickly followed by another new song, the near 10-minute long “Venice Bitch,” also shared via a video (the song was our #1 Song of the Week). Both songs were collaborations with Jack Antonoff (he of fun. and Bleachers, and in an in-demand producer).
