Listen: Beth Orton - “Magpie”
Off Upcoming Album Sugaring Season
Aug 14, 2012
Beth Orton
On Oct. 2 Beth Orton will release Sugaring Season, her first release of new material in over six years. Featuring the already shared track “Something More Beautiful,” the album also includes the building folk tune “Magpie.” in an interview with Rolling Stone Orton explains that she was inspired by two blue jays that seemed to follow her from house to house. “These birds hold wisdom for me,” she says. “They are also oblivious to the fear they raise in others. All the time people are inventing stories to justify actions that often have no bearing on reality. I have experienced being silenced and this song came out of that. It was my way of keeping my voice and a sense of freedom alive.” You can listen to the track by clicking here.
