Listen: Chad Valley - “Seventeen”
Entirely New Blue Due Out October 2 via Cascine

Chad Valley
Chad Valley (aka British singer/musician/producer Hugo Manuel) recently announced his sophomore album, Entirely New Blue, and shared its first single, “True.” It’s due out October 2 via Cascine. Now he’s shared another track from it, “Seventeen.” The near six-minute long song has a relaxed vibe and a slow build. You can listen to it below via FADER, who premiered it.
“I can say that this is the most deeply personal song I have ever written,” Manuel said to FADER in an email interview. “I was in a pretty weird place when I wrote the lyrics but it served as some kind of therapy, as writing often does for me.”
Entirely New Blue is the follow-up to 2012’s excellent Young Hunger, which featured such special guests as Twin Shadow and Glasser. The new album is somewhat inspired by a romantic breakup. The album was written partly in London, where he lived for many years with his long-term girlfriend, and partly in his hometown of Oxford, where he returned to once the relationship ended.
Listen to “Seventeen” below, followed by Chad Valley’s upcoming tour dates. Also read our interviews with Chad Valley from 2011 and 2012.
