Listen: Charli XCX - “Explode”
New Song Taken From The Angry Birds Movie: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
May 06, 2016
Charli XCX
It seems to me that an Angry Birds movie is a few years too late, considering the addictive but silly game first debuted way back in 2009. In terms of pop culture phenomenon, that’s practically the Stone Age. But I guess movies take time to be developed and computer animated films take time to be animated, by computers, so whether anyone cares or not, on May 20th Columbia Pictures is releasing The Angry Birds Movie. And to get you excited, here’s a new track from Charli XCX?! The British singer/songwriter/producer continues her quest for mainstream pop acceptance by contributing a song to the official soundtrack of The Angry Birds Movie (the soundtrack is out today).
It’s a fairly standard but enjoyable pop song, but is probably one of the better tracks on the soundtrack (which in fairness I haven’t heard), considering some of the other artists on there include Limp Bizkit, Blake Shelton, Demi Lovato, Imagine Dragons, and Peter Dinklage (yes, he, of Game of Thrones). Still, I can’t say it’s the best song on the soundtrack, since Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” is also on there. Listen to “Explode” below.
