British art-pop quartet Dutch Uncles are releasing a new album, Big Balloon, on February 17 via Memphis Industries. Previously the band shared the album’s first single (and title track), “Big Balloon,” as well as a video for the song, and another track, “Oh Yeah.” Now the band has shared another song from the album, “Streetlight.” Listen below, followed by the band’s U.K. tour dates.
Dutch Uncles’ vocalist Duncan Wallis had this to say about the song in a press release: “‘Streetlight’ is about becoming content with your loneliness. It’s about being skeptical, but aware and open to new chances at connecting again. It’s about realizing your own needs, possibly for the first time.”
The album is the follow-up to 2015’s excellent O Shudder. A previous press release said the band took “musical inspiration from Kate Bush’s The Red Shoes, Low-era David Bowie, some other slightly-less fashionable records belonging to their dads, and the eastern European techno discovered by [composer and bass player Robin] Richards while working in Ukraine this year.”
