Florence and the Machine
The soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s stylish film adaptation of the The Great Gatsby boasts a varied list of all-star contributors, featuring songs from Jay-Z (who executive-produced the collection), Beyoncé, Andre 3000, Jack White, The xx, and Lana Del Rey. Also lending her talents is none other than Florence and the Machine‘s Florence Welch, who has provided her epic vocals to the slow-building anthem “Over the Love.” Centering itself around the lines “Cause you’re a hard soul to save with an ocean in the way, but I’ll get around it,” the song clearly makes reference to Gatsby’s nightly gaze across the water to East Egg and the symbolic green light on the dock where Daisy lives.
