Next month HBO’s sexualized vampire soap opera True Blood returns with a new season. Featured on the soundtrack, out May 28, Jenny Lewis teamed up with Eric Burdon to lay down a cover of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” a song first recorded in 1964 by Nina Simone and even covered by Burdon’s former outfit The Animals back in 1965. Reworking their new version into the show’s swamp dark tone, Lewis and Burdon’s collaboration is currently available to stream over on KCRW’s website. Down below you can watch The Animals perform their cover back in the day on The Ed Sullivan Show.
