Listen: Jim James - “A New Life” (tUnE-yArDs Remix)
For James' Global Citizen Tickets Initiative
May 06, 2013
Jim James
This week Jim James and My Morning Jacket helped launch the Global Citizen Tickets Initiative, a social awareness program fighting world poverty that will allow fans to enter a lottery for two donated tickets at participating artists’ shows for the next three years. To help celebrate the cause James recently handed over his track “A New Life” (from his solo debut Regions of Light and Sound of God) to tUnE-yArDs’ Merrill Garbus for a remix. Featuring Garbus’ signature, idiosyncratic rhythms, the new interpretation is available to stream over at Rolling Stone.
Be sure to keep an eye out for more artists joining the Global Citizen Tickets Initiative, which already includes Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Kanye West, and Beyoncé. To earn points towards the initiative’s available lottery tickets fans can donate $20 or more online towards a participating charity, share a video bringing awareness to poverty, or do something as simple as signing a petition. For more information, visit Global Citizen’s official website.
