Listen: Natalie Prass - “REALiTi” (Grimes Cover)
Side by Side EP Out Tomorrow
Nov 19, 2015 Grimes
Natalie Prass released her acclaimed self-titled debut album earlier this year via Spacebomb/StarTime International. Tomorrow she’ll be releasing a new EP, Side by Side, via StarTime International. It includes three covers. We’ve already heard Prass’ versions of Anita Baker’s “Caught Up in the Rapture” and Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.” Now she has shared her cover of Grimes’ “REALiTi,” which is found on the Canadian art-pop singer’s brand new album, Art Angels, but was earlier released as a single. Check it out Prass’ version below.
Prass commented on the cover in a press release: “‘REALiTi’ by Grimes. Four chords. Simple lyrics and melodies. I think the world of her. We worked this song out in the studio never having played it before and recorded it like three times through. I think it works although she’s probably going to say ‘what is this jazz shit’ and hate it.”
Side by Side also includes new versions of debut album cuts “My Baby Don’t Understand Me” and “Christy” (both which you can listen to here). The EP was recorded live at the Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, VA, where she also recorded her album.
Check out the cover below. Also read our Pleased to Meet You Spotlight interview with Prass and our separate recent print magazine article on Prass.
