Listen: Parquet Courts - “Human Performance”
Human Performance Due Out This Friday via Rough Trade
Apr 06, 2016 Parquet Courts
Parquet Courts are releasing their new album, Human Performance, this Friday via Rough Trade. Now they have shared the album’s title track in your final chance to try before you buy before the album is out. Check it out below.
The band’s Andrew Savage had this to say about “Human Performance” to NPR Music: “Ultimately the song is about living in the company of one’s own shame. Perhaps it was the years spent as an altar boy that gave me an inclination toward repentance and atonement. I’ve never been a believer, but I can understand the appeal of faith, especially when it includes the promise of unconditional love and forgiveness. ‘Human Performance’ is about the absence of that faith, and how haunting it is.”
Also this Friday the band will take part on an Ask Them Anything on Reddit at 12 PM EST.
Previously Parquet Courts had shared the videos for “Dust,” the album’s opening track, and “Berlin Got Blurry.” The band had also shared the audio for “Outside.” Human Performance is the band’s first full-length for iconic London-based indie label Rough Trade and follows last November’s Monastic Living EP, which was their very first release for the label. Previously the band was singed to New York-based indie What’s Your Rupture?
