Listen: Preoccupations Share 11-Minute New Song Featuring Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade - “Memory”
Self-Titled Album Due Out September 16 via Jagjaguwar
Sep 07, 2016 Wolf Parade
Preoccupations, the band formerly known as Viet Cong, are releasing their first album under their new name, also titled Preoccupations, on September 16 via Jagjaguwar. Previously they had shared the album’s first single, “Anxiety,” via its video, along with another track from the record, “Degraded,” and a video for “Degraded.” Now the band has shared the album’s 11-minute centerpiece track, “Memory.” The post-punk epic features guest vocals from Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade. Listen below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates.
Multi-instrumentalist Scott “Monty” Munro had this to say about the song in a press release: “‘Memory’ was the second song that we started working on for Preoccupations after ‘Anxiety.’ It was unique to the sessions of the record in that we worked on it in every studio that we were in. The idea we had for it’s arc made it necessary to put more work into it than any of the other tracks. The finished result was worked on in six different studios over almost two years. Getting Dan [Boeckner] in to record the vocals was the final piece of the puzzle and was Matt [Flegel]‘s idea. We were tracking in Montreal and cold-called him to see if he wanted to sing a duet of sorts, but his vocal was so perfect for it that we didn’t use Matt’s for most of it.”

Terrific news. I actually are going to talk about it with a few good friends of my own who will find it substantially more useful. It’s an excellent which might happen to a student - lots of other informative material.
