New Take On “Blue Cassette”

Earlier this morning tribal mask-wearing producer SBTRKT (aka Aaron Jerome) made an appearance on BBC 1 Live Lounge to play a few tracks for the show’s greater listening audience. With regular collaborator Sampha on vocals, SBTRKT played through a rendition his own dubstep/soul track “Hold On” from his self-titled debut. The real treat however, came when Jerome premiered a cover of Friendly Fires’ “Blue Cassette.” Last fall SBTRKT revealed that his next record would feature the fellow UK band, with member Ed Macfarlane providing the vocals. Until the results of that partnership see the light of day, listen to SBTRKT pay homage to his friends’ work below.
