Listen: Stars - “Hold Up” (Beyoncé Cover)
Band to Cover a New Song Each Month in 2016
Jul 26, 2016

Montreal indie-pop heroes Stars have shared a cover of Beyoncé‘s “Hold Up,” a song from this year’s Lemonade. It’s part of Stars’ plan to cover a new song each month in 2016. Listen to it below, followed by some upcoming tour dates.
The band commented on the cover in a press release: “Why did we cover this Beyoncé song? Because we love it. Because she’s the queen of pop and we’re not. Because it’s, very oddly, right in Torq’s singing range. We don’t know. We don’t know anything anymore… At least there’s this: A song about love. It’s all we’ve ever had. It is all we will ever have. And we are fools to have counted on anything else. Happy last summer on earth everyone. Beyoncé has got you.”
Stars are currently working on a new album and the band’s Amy Millan and Evan Cranley are also touring as part of Broken Social Scene right now (their dates are below too).
Stars Tour Dates:
8/12 - Niagra-On-The-Lake, ON Canada - Jackson Triggs Amphitheatre
8/13 - Sudbury, ON Canada - Up Here Festival
9/16 - Fredericton, NB Canada - Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival
Broken Social Scene Tour Dates:
9/1 - 9/4 - Larmer Tree Gardens, Dorset - End of the Road Festival
9/2 - 9/4 - Stradbally Hall Co Laois, Ireland - Electric Picnic
