Montreal indie-pop heroes Stars have shared a cover of Kanye West‘s “Streetlights,” a song found on the hip-hop hit-maker’s 2008 album 808’s and Heartbreaks. It’s part of Stars’ plan to cover a new song each month in 2016. Listen to it below, followed by some upcoming tour dates.
The original was fairly subdued and indie-poppy, so it’s not the unlikeliest Kanye song they could have picked. Frontman Torquil Campbell aggress, saying in a press release: “Nighttime, street lights, isolation, despair, the romance of being alone: Stars cover this ground often, so tackling Kanye West’s beautiful evocation of all these things seemed natural. It’s his most starsy song. And besides, sad Kanye is everyone’s favorite Kanye, right?”
Stars Tour Dates:
2/12 - Jakarta, Indonesia - Soehanna Hall
2/14 - Singapore, Singapore - Victoria Theatre
2/18 - Taipei, Taiwan - The Wall
2/20 - Manila, Philippines - Goodvybes Festival
2/21 - Honolulu, Hawaii - The Republik
July 22 - 24 Oro-Medonte, ON - WayHome Festival
