May 20, 2016 Todd Terje & The Olsens By Christopher Roberts

Todd Terje and his backing band The Olsens are releasing The Big Cover Up, a new EP of covers, on June 17 via Olsen Records. Now they have shared their cover of “Firecracker,” which began as a 1959 song from composer Martin Denny, but was then memorably covered by Japan’s Yellow Magic Orchestra in 1978. Listen below.

The double 12-inch includes eight tracks, four covers (of songs by Martin Denny/Yellow Magic Orchestra, Martin Circus, Boney M, and Vangelis) and four remixes of those covers (by Daniel Maloso, Dan Tyler, Prins Thomas, and Øyvind Morken). Previously Terje has shared the Daniel Maloso remix of their cover of Boney M’s “Baby Do You Wanna Bump.”

Also recently announced is a show in New York dubbed “No Bad Days.” It will go down at 1260 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn on July 29th. Along with Todd Terje & The Olsens, fellow Norwegian artists Lindstrøm and Jaga Jazzist will be performing. Below is the tracklist and tour dates.
