Luna split up in 2005 but reunited in 2015 for some shows. The band haven’t released a new album in 13 years, since 2004’s Rendezvous, although the band’s Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips (who are married) have released some albums as Dean & Britta and last year Phillips released her criminally under-heard debut solo album, Luck or Magic. Now Luna have announced a new album and EP, which are both due out September 22 via Double Feature. Those hoping for a bunch of new Luna songs will be disappointed however. A Sentimental Education is an album of covers and A Place of Greater Safety is an EP of instrumentals, but it’s a start. The band have shared a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “One Together” (the original was found on that band’s 1970 album Kiln House). A Sentimental Education also features covers of songs by The Cure, Mercury Rev, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, and more. Check out the full tracklistings for both the album and EP below. Also below is the “One Together” cover, the cover art for both releases, and their upcoming tour dates (all two of them, thus far, more November dates are promised to be announced soon).
