Lykke Li Shares New Cover of Jim Croce’s “Time in a Bottle”
Digital Single Out Now

Jim Croce
Sweden’s Lykke Li has shared a new cover of Jim Croce’s “Time in a Bottle.” The cover is currently available as a standalone digital single. There’s no word if it’s connected to a future album or EP from Li. Her last album was 2014’s I Never Learn. Listen below, followed by Croce’s original.
Croce’s original was written when his wife told him she was pregnant and was first released on his 1972 album You Don’t Mess Around with Jim. It wasn’t initially scheduled to be a single, but when Croce died in a plane crash in 1973 its lyrics about mortality took on new meaning and it became a #1 hit.
In 2016 and 2017 Lykke Li released some music with LIV, a Swedish supergroup that features Li, her romantic partner Jeff Bhasker, Andrew Wyatt from Miike Snow, Pontus Winnberg from Miike Snow and Amason, and Peter Bjorn and John‘s Björn Yttling. In September 2016 the band was announced via the debut of their first song, “Wings of Love.” Then in October 2016 we were treated to a NSFW video for the song directed by Li in her directorial debut. Then in November 2016 there was another song from the band, the slow-burning “Dream Awake.” In June 2017 LIV shared a third song, the upbeat “Heaven,” via its lyric video. Then in September 2017 they shared a delicate new song, “Hurts to Liv.”
