M.I.A. And Janelle Monaé To Perform Hologram At An Audi Event

This is either the coolest thing ever, or a complete train wreck in the making. This Thursday, Janelle Monaé and M.I.A. will perform at events in Los Angeles (Monaé) and New York (M.I.A.) promoting Audi’s new A3. At the end of their hour-long shows, the pair will perform two unreleased collaborative duets. Monaé will be beamed into M.I.A’s show via live-action hologram, and M.I.A. will be projected on to Monaé’s stage.
Says the press release:
“The set utilizes 3D projection mapping to add layered depth of field perception with animated graphic content, the result of which will be an electric never-before-seen 3D bi-coastal performance.”
So there you have it. Hooray for commerce.
