M83 Heads Into the Studio
Working on New “Very Very Very Epic” Album
Nov 22, 2010 M83
Today Pitchfork chatted with French electronic maestro, Anthony Gonzalez, who plays under the name M83. The musician is hard at work on the follow-up to 2008’s 1980s inspired, Saturdays=Youth. Says Gonzalez of the new project, “This album is going to be closer to the work I did on Before the Dawn Heals Us because it’s going to be way more cinematic than Saturdays, which was like 10 pop songs. This album’s going to be very long with some spoken word interludes—very dreamy, powerful, intense. It’s more like I’m trying to make the soundtrack to an imaginary movie.”
Production for that imaginary movie soundtrack are slated to include Saturdays=Youth vocalist Morgan Kibby, and Beck/Nine Inch Nails bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen.
