Marnie Stern Announces Results of Date Contest

Three Winners Picked

Back in January guitar-tapping virtuoso Marnie Stern announced that she would take part in a fun promotional contest where some lucky guy in the New York City would get the chance to win a date with the very single musical artist. With her new album The Chronicles of Marnia finally seeing release today, Stern has announced that not one, but three winners were chosen from 295 entries.

In a press release, “the judging panel was blown away by how many gainfully employed, funny, and just plain CUTE guys entered. We were also alarmed at how many people are incapable of following simple rules (50% of entries were from people who do not live in New York! 35% sent no picture!).”

Narrowing down eight finalists to three top contenders, Stern apparently couldn’t make up her mind when a definitive choice had to be made. To fix the problem she decided to go on dates with all of them:

Neal Block, Head of Distribution for Magnolia Pictures. Neal won our hearts with his plan to take Marnie on a walking tour of locations where Law & Order SVU was shot on the Upper East Side – that takes research! We love a man who’s willing to put in a little extra effort to show a lady a good time.

Mike Hurst, Owner of The Pancake Factory recording studio (http://www.thepancakefactory.net) and co-owner of Moim (http://moimrestaurant.com/), a Korean restaurant in Park Slope. Mike’s entry made us laugh, but it was the picture of his adorable little dog Willow that sealed the deal – we’re hoping Willow and Fig get along almost more than we hope Marnie and Mike get along.

Scott Indrisek, Executive Editor of Modern Painters magazine and two blogs: Brant Watch (www.brantwatch.com) and Shit My Cat Read (www.shitmycatsread.com). Scott sent a photo of himself in front of a giant orange rug with holes burned out of it (memorable) and also said he’d take Marnie for New Zealand food. Which we have never even thought of in our wildest dreams…is it Hobbit food? Or just British food featuring nothing but sheep? Now we HAVE to know!

Stern has plans to tweet and document the progress of each date, so these guys best bring their A-game.
