Islands out November 3rd

The Mary Onettes
The Scandinavian amalgamation of all things 1980s—aka The Mary Onettes, are back with their sophomore album Islands. Out November 3rd on Labrador Records, the band, whose previous singles have appeared on Grey’s Anatomy, and who were an Under the Radar “Pleased to Meet You” band last year, are calling Islands their most personal work yet. Says lead singer Peter Ekström in a press release, in regards to the songs “The Disappearance of My Youth” and “Cry For Love,” “The songs are almost too personal and I’ve had a hard time playing them for friends. It’s like all I want to do is keep them to myself.”
Ernest Hemingway may have famously said “No man is an island,” but according to The Mary Onettes, songs are. Ekström explains the mythology behind their choice of title. “The title Islands came up because I see the tracks on the album as small islands in different shapes and forms where every song is like a record of its very own. Johan on Labrador Records suggested the same title without having heard me mentioning the idea, so that was a coincidence too good not to pursue.”
